Chamber concert
Amaryllis Quartett
Sebastian Manz (clarinet)

Admission: € 15 - 35

Nature sounds and the voices of birds have inspired many composers. The musical journey of this concert goes from classical to impressionistic to romantic sounds. In the clarinet quintet, the Amaryllis Quartet and the solo clarinetist of the SWR Symphony Orchestra, Sebastian Manz, venture together into the already transcendent sounds of Brahms' late work.

 Programme:

Joseph Haydn "Lark Quartet" op. 64/5
Igor Stravinsky Three pieces for clarinet solo
Oliver Messian "Abime des oiseaux"
Johannes Brahms Clarinet Quintet op. 115

Amaryllis Quartet - these are: Gustav Frielinghaus, Lena Sandoz, Mareike Hefti, Yves Sandoz

"Thrilling, expressive, multi-layered" (SZ), the Amaryllis Quartet regularly inspires audiences and the press in its concerts, making it one of the most interesting string quartets of its generation.

In its concert programs as well as in its recordings, it is important to the Amaryllis Quartet to combine classics of quartet literature with something new in an unusual way, thereby opening up new listening worlds. The premiere of works by contemporary composers such as Johannes Fischer, David Philip Hefti or Lin Yang is just as important as the rediscovery of today's forgotten masterpieces, such as the string quartets by the Hungarian composer Géza Frid.

Sebastian Manz, international soloist, chamber musician and solo clarinetist of the SWR Symphony Orchestra, celebrated his big breakthrough in 2008 at the ARD International Music Competition in Munich. There he received first prize in the clarinet category, which had not been awarded in this category for 40 years, as well as the coveted audience prize and other special prizes. Before that, he won the German Music Competition with his piano partner Martin Klett. Since then he has received the ECHO KLASSIK three times for outstanding CD recordings and the coveted Emerging Artist Award in New York. For his album A Bernstein Story, released in 2019, he received the OPUS KLASSIK in the category "Classic without borders" in October 2020.
