Pianist Daniel Seng plays Chopin's Etudes at the Putbus Theatre

On November 16, 2024, the audience at the Putbus Theatre were able to enjoy a very special evening. The pianist Daniel Seng played the 24 Etudes by Frédéric Chopin in front of a full house and the enthusiasm for his performance was expressed in long-lasting applause.

Beforehand, the author Reinhard Piechocki gave an entertaining discussion about the importance of the etudes, which are mostly very difficult to play, and referred to several artists who have dealt with them in their lives. In particular, he spoke about the pianist Alice Herz-Sommer, whose eventful and exciting life he has published in a book.

Prof. Zack from the Rostock University of Music and Theatre also spoke. He accompanied Daniel Seng in his development and recorded the 24 etudes he had worked on over the years for a CD. This CD was financed with donations, which were raised by our support association, among others, and we are very proud of this.

Last but not least, Daniel Seng's explanations of each etude helped not only music connoisseurs but also interested laypeople to understand and hear the pieces and their special features. The explanations were also so instructive that they sensitized the senses for future concert experiences.

Thank you very much for this thoroughly successful evening!
