PUTBUS FESTIVAL 2025

From 1982 to 2002, festivals with different names and programs were held in Putbus under the direction of Wilhelm Keitel. The festivals over Ascension Day and Pentecost were established and were well received by locals and guests.

After the end of this era, the festival's support association and the Putbus Theater support association wanted to continue the project together and found the most important sponsor in the Rügen Savings Bank. With a new concept and moderate prices, the PUTBUS FESTIVALS started in 2003 in cooperation with the Putbus Theater. The theater acted as the organizer and took over the technical security, the organizational aspects and ticket sales. The association took care of the finances and took over the compilation of the program. With a different theme every year, the programs were well received.

Fixed components include a program for children and families, a guest ballet performance and, since 2007, the popular "Music in the Park" event. Association members were involved on a voluntary basis in providing for the ballet students.

“Music in the Park” has grown from year to year and, since there is no admission charge in the park, can only be financed from donations. The association’s own contribution (20% of the funding amount) has to be made by issuing program booklets in return for a donation. Since association members in historical costumes have taken on this task, we have often managed it.

When all visitors had to be registered during the corona epidemic, a total of over 50 volunteers made “Music in the Park” possible.

The association’s technology working group takes on the technical security of all park events on a voluntary basis. From 2024, "Music in the Park" will be organized together with the Putbus spa administration as the organizer.

New program formats have been tried again and again. The combination of culinary and musical delights could be tested at Dinner & Music in the Wreecher Hof and at the murder mystery dinner in the Jägerhütte. This combination only became particularly successful when the "Musical Dinner" moved to the theater stage in 2019.

Other experiments were the deckchair concerts or chamber music on the cargo glider Ernestine.

We are also trying to preserve the festival for the future. So it remains exciting!
